I suggest that everyone read this book. If you think you are not struggling with lust (your probably lieing to yourself) you should still read this book. I have been really enjoying learning about the root of my sin and learning the different kinds of lust, ways to serve my brothers in Christ and the real goal to beating lust. Not because I know its wrong and because its a sucky thing to be doing .. but because it DOES NOT GLORIFY GOD which is our #1 purpose for being here on earth.
Here is a little teaser that migth get you interested. Josh Harris wrote the following:
“When it comes to differences between men and women, the following statements are generally accurate and may be helpful to consider:
- A man’s sexual desire is often more physical, while a woman’s desire is more often rooted in emotional longins.
- A man is generally wired to be the sexual initiator and is stimulated visually; a woman is generally wired to be the sexual responder and is stimulated by touch.
- A man is created to persue a finds even the pursuite stimulating; a woman is made to want to be persued and finds even being persued stimulating. [(haha aint that the truth!! )]
Isn’t it wonderful how God has made men and women to interact with eachother?” …..Then he goes on about how wonderful God’s design is and then how our sin and lustful desires destorts God’s plan. Doesn’t sin suck?!
One thing also I have really appreciated from this book so far (I haven’t finished reading it yet) is the “How we can help eachother” portion. It is very important to hold each other accountable so that we can try and not stumble our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and to be examples to our younger generation. THere really are lots of reasons.
If this hasn’t struck your fancy.. how about some really annoying begging.. please please read this book!!! It will serve you well.

Great book.
Josh Harris reworked it, and the new edition is entitled, “Sex is Not the Problem, Lust In.” Or something like that.
I want to see what has been updated, besides the title!
Covenant Life also did a series on Purity this past year (I think in January and February). I highly recommend that as well!
I’m pretty sure I still have the MP3s, and could burn someone a copy, if wanted.
