Week 15

orange .

Our growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of a Naval Orange). It’s busy moving amniotic fluid through the nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in it’s lungs begin to develop. The legs are growing longer than it’s arms now, and baby can move all of it’s joints and limbs. Although the eyelids are still fused shut, it can sense the light… If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, the baby is likely to move away from the beam (interesting ey?).

According to the website (www.babycenter.com), it is possible to tell the gender of our child this week but I am going to wait as long as I can to get a more accurate reading.

I also read that between weeks 16 and 22 I should start feeling the baby move… isn’t that exciting?!?! I think that when I feel it (our little baby) move it will seem a lot more real to me. I will let you know when that happens for sure!

I hope some of you are not offended by my calling our child “it”, I just can’t think of anything else creative to call “it” and “it” seems to work for me. I will call “it” He or She when we find out which is the appropriate label but until then, I apologize for the political incorrectness (if that is what it is called). Ha-

So personally I am feeling so much better! I am rarely getting sick and when I am it is usually because my food is digesting (not too sure why that makes me sick but it does), after it digests, I feel normal again, until I have to eat. I still have some food aversions which is stinky when it comes to meal time but my sense of smell is almost back to normal so that helps a bit. My belly is increasing in size but not big enough for maternity clothes, or for people who don’t know me to notice that I am pregnant. I am still in that awkward stage of looking chunky in the middle but I know it is really a baby but most people don’t… I am still 5 lbs under my starting pregnancy weight but I have gained 2lbs. back since last week. This makes me feel better because I know that the child is getting more nutrients than before.

Now, don’t yell at me but I am still not taking my prenatal vitamins. I think I am going to start trying to take them at night while I sleep to avoid the sickness feeling from them. I plan to start on Friday so if they do still make me sick, it is when I can lay on the coach all day instead of having to be at work. Hopefully, they will not make me sick and I can start taking them again. I was excited about how fast my hair was growing! HahA

I find that I am not as emotional as I had been but I do find that I am more anxious and fearful. The more real this gets, the more scared I get. There is actually a human life growing inside of me! I am going to be responsible for raising a child (and please Lord let it not be like me), what if something goes wrong? What if, what if, what if… stupid phrase. Trust God Janet. There isn’t anything I can do to change what is going to happen, it is out of my control. Your Grace is sufficient and you will get Ryan and I through all of the wonderful things you have planned for our family – good and bad. BUT…. ahhhhhh!

have a nice day!

  1. Hey Janet!
So I couldn’t take those prenatal vits. either. They made me super sick! So my doctor told me to take children vitamins 2 times a day. I took like the gummy bear ones and the vitaballs.(like a gumball)
Glad to hear the morning sickness is better! Thanks for the awesome words of encouragement for my new adventure! Talk to you soon!

We have to do breakfast before the end of august!
