” i did what i had to do “

8am Saturday Morning.

Ryan: Janet, my nose is stuffy and something really smells in Lucy’s room. I think she pooped.

Me: Did you check her?

Ryan: No, but it smells like she did.

Me: Well Ryan, what do you do about it? Are you just going to leave her in her crib like that?

Ryan: I did do what I had to do, I said: “Janet, I think Lucy pooped.”

We laughed. Made a deal or two. Ryan Changes diaper.

Lucy: Poo-Poo!

Ryan: Yeah, why do you poopoo so early in the morning?

Lucy: <giggle>

Ryan: Whoaaaa. Ugh.

Lucy: <giggle>

R.I.P. Fishy

It is with great sadness that I report the death of our beloved Goldfish Fishy.

Fishy was a strange Fish, quite boring actually, but a member of the family nonetheless.

His/her cause of death is still unknown but it could possibly because the owner (I) hasn’t changed the tank water for a week ( it only looked like it really needed to be changed for about three days).

The funny thing is that I moved Fishy to the kitchen today to get a bath and when I came in this evening he/she was afloat.

I tried to resuscitate the fish by placing it into the fresh water and it did seem to gain a little more strength, but still pretty much just floating.

This announcement could be pre-mature if for some reason my actions prove to be effective, but, I don’t know anything about fish so I am just calling this one a loss.

Sorry man. Shoulda changed your water sooner?

Amen.

Wait, nevermind, Ryan just texted me a picture of the fish swimming around.

Until I kill him again…

. cereal activity .

What do you do when it is 90 degrees and you don’t want to go outside?

Suppose the only items you have in your house (because you haven’t gone shopping yet) are:

 String

And Cheerios?

Well, why don’t you just make a necklace?!

Yummmmy!

This activity serves two purposes. She has snack readily available anytime she is hungry  and I get to sit on my butt in the a/c for an extra 10 min!

Win. Win.

The Pillow Situation

Pillow Case- A removable, usually cotton case used to cover a pillow.

Pillow Sham- A decorative cover for a bed pillow.

Now that we know the difference between the two… let me just talk for a few minutes.

Ryan and I received a very nice comforter set as a wedding gift. It is a Martha Stewart set from Macy’s. 300 thread count or more. Not so cheap if you know what I mean.

Ryan recently started sleeping on one of our shams and I told him that he was not allowed to do that because shams were for decoration and I didn’t want him to drool all over them or get blood on them (he sometimes gets nose bleeds in his sleep) or boogers on them… or anything on them. They are for decoration so they have to stay fresh and clean.

Ryan told me that he liked the pillow that was in the sham case more than the pillow in his pillow case.

Ok, so I switched the pillows. Now he can use the pillow he likes in the pillow case he is supposed to use and not get my decorative sham all yucky.

He is still sleeping on the sham.

I don’t understand, I thought I fixed the problem.

He must like the feeling of the sham rather than the feeling of the pillow case. I personally think the pillow cases are softer than the shams.

My decorative sham is ruined now.

Ugh.

The “Did that just happen?” Day

So there I am re-arranging the items in my backseat to fit all of the stuff I just bought at Target. It only took a few seconds. I then go to reach into the cart and notice that the cart, along with Lucy, are floating across the Target parking lot. When I tell you that they were halfway across the Target Parking lot, they really were. “OH MY GOSHHHH!” I yelled and ran towards the cart. Lucy, She was just staring at me. No expression. I think it was a “I am not sure what is going on but this is kind of fun” expression. She started laughing the closer I got to her. I started cracking up too because I couldn’t believe what just happened. I couldn’t belive it. There was a woman at the end of the lot with her son staring at us. I can only imagine what she was seeing/thinking  from her perspective.

I didn’t hear the cart move. I know I had the car secure between my car and the cart return. I think Lucy pushed off. She has done that before.

Fast forward one hour…

I am sitting on the couch in the basement playing with Lucy and her Farm. I started checking the TV for the weather and noticed that it smelled like Lucy had pooped. I reached down to feel her diaper and I didn’t feel anything. A few minutes went by and I kept smelling it, it was really strong so it couldn’t have just been a fart it had to be poop. So, I looked down and there it was. A HUGE turd on the floor. The Carpet floor. She stepped in it and walked around.

Oh yeah.

Huh? What? How? Huh?

I looked in her shorts and noticed that 1/2 of her diaper was hanging off. Not surprised since she likes to rip her diaper off every time I put a new one on. So I am assuming she pooped, it fell out of her diaper down her leg onto the floor. She didn’t notice and kept playing with her toys accidentally stepping in it on her way over to the tractor.

I’d say it has been a good day.

Fishy

We have a new member of the family. His name is Fishy.

I have decided to name him “Fishy” because I didn’t want to confuse Lucy. I don’t want her to start thinking that  all fishes are actually Bob’s… know what I mean? So Fishy it is.

I won the fish a the Parkville Carnival. It was an amazing shot if I say so myself.

Ryan thinks it is dumb to pay $2.00 to win a fish I could buy at Wal-Mart for 10 cents, but that is not the point.

Do you remember what happened to the last fish we won at that Carnival?

Lucy kissed Fishy goodnight. And then she tried to drink out of his fishbowl. We have some things to learn.

Lucy Goosey- 18 Mo!

Well, it has been a while. We have been on a media fast, and I have been really busy, and I just have been feeling un-motivated to write. HOwever, since I am using this blog to substitute a baby book, I thought it was about time to update all the info on our growing little girl.

First, I will start with pictures. I wish I had more but I still don’t have a camera.

I don’t think I can accurately describe the person that Lucy is. There is just too much of her to give you the best picture of this amazing little girl. She is a blessing. A joy. A crazy little energetic child that loves everyone.

She is TALKATIVE! She probably says 75 words or more and continues to learn more daily. She just said her first “phrase” yesterday: “Bye-Bye Da-Da”. Oh my. So cute. She honestly does not stop talking. This trait obviously is from me because we all know, Ryan doesn’t like to talk. Now he doesn’t have too… she fills in the dead air.

She loves to eat. She would eat all day long if I let her. Her favorite things to consume currently would include apples, cheese, Nilk (Milk), broccoli and pretty much anything that is on mine or Ryan’s plate(Ryan hates sharing his food) .

Lucy likes to dance. She is a professional at the “Fist Pump” and will make everyone in the room/car do it with her. She loves music, all kinds of music and instruments. Most of her favorite songs come from a Barney Sing Along movie that we watch. It is really cute watching her try to figure out all of the movements that go along with it. This is really exciting since it is one of the things I specifically prayed for her while she was in my belly.

This week Lucy has been extremely clingy. Oh. My. “Mama, Mama, up! up!” Is pretty much what I hear allllll day long. I do love it, it is really cute. However, I can’t get much done around the house or in a store. I am not sure if this is because both of her K9 teeth are coming in at the same time and she is just extra whiney and clingy because she is uncomfortable or if this is what the 18 mo stage looks like. Normally she is very social and friendly and just hangs out and takes it all in but not this week. I would say it has been a little challenging for me and the whining is really testing my patience but we are getting through it and learning how to deal. Always a learning experience for all of us.

Side note: I think I just  baked my first successful cake (I hate baking and I always mess something up).

She is really girly.  Lucy walks around the house with a purse on her arm and gestures for lipstick. I know that this is probably mostly just imitation because of my purse and my obsessive use of chapstick, but again, like I keep saying, it is really cute.

What else would I in 20 years want to remember about Lucy (or after 4 children not able to remember who does what)?

Well, She lets me put bows in her hair and she keeps them in. She LOVES shoes. She really likes to play outside (a little too much that I often have to keep the doors shut so she forgets there is an outside and stops asking me about it). She likes sidewalk chalk and bubbles. She loves getting in an out of her new blue wagon. She loves playing with buckles and seatbelts. The cutest word that she says is “peeeeze” (please) because it not only sounds cute but it goes along with the cutest little smile. As far as her height and weight I am not so sure because her check-up is not until Wednesday but I think she os probably only about 22 lbs at this point. Lucy knows all of her animal noises and our favorite is the Gorilla because she bangs on her chest, I think her favorite is a dog because she does it the most. She brushes her own hair and teeth and will not let me forget to put tooth paste on her tooth-brush. And lastly, you Lucy are a great sleeper and I am so thankful!!

Ryan and I are currently working on baby #2. We would appreciate your prayers. I am tempted to be jealous of woman who are getting pregnant and anxious when I am not. I am comforted when I remember that if it is God’s plan than it will be so. Just like Lucy was His plan and here she is. He knows what is best for us and he will be faithful. I am excited for the opportunity to hopefully bring another life into our family and provide a cute playmate  for Lucy.

Okay, gotto go ice the cake now. TTFN. Hopefully some creative motivation strikes sometime soon.

Chao.

To Clarify…

Just to clarify a few things that I have previously wrote about…

Easter, though it is about God because he is Creator, it is ultimate celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Why is this important?

Jesus died to pay the penalty of death that we deserve for our sin, was buried, and rose with a glorified body, gaining victory over death and the grave. When we put our faith in Him by believing through faith alone in Christ alone, we have the promise of one day with Him in heaven.

The resurrection destroys the power of sin.

The resurrection destroys the power of death.

This may or may not make sense to you, and I know it is totally confusing. But, I would love to tell you about it if you really are interested. I too was once a person who could care less about this Holiday and now that I do know, I am forever grateful. Maybe knowing could change your life too?

That is how my previous posts leading up to Easter are pertinent to the topic. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are able to be saved from our sins and have new life. The Testimonies that were shared are living testimonies of those who have experienced God’s forgiveness (at the cross) and a new life (resurrection). God is changing lives through his son Jesus.
